Lee Kirk Architecture was established as a full time, sole practitioner office in 1987. I never employ more than two professional support staff. As much as possible, I prefer to handle all facets of a project personally. This approach minimizes inefficiencies and errors that come from too many links of communication but sometimes forces me to limit my work load to no more than one large project at a time. Although my previous employment experience focused on large-scale commercial projects, my practice focuses first on religious facilities and second on residential (single and multi family) work. Most of my projects have been in the Everett-Seattle-Olympia corridor with the exception being a church in Alaska and some homes in Japan. After a 2 year diversion working for Callison as a senior project architect, I have returned to my private practice in 2009
While the photos on the following pages show my favorite, and what I feel to be my strongest markets, I consider myself a generalist. Over my career I have had the opportunity to work on a lot of exciting projects in several categories. The following list summarizes where I have been architecturally from my first professional job to today. These projects were done under my own seal unless noted otherwise. Through my career I have been mentored by: Gabbert Broweleit Peterson [GBP], Cannell & Chaffin [C&C], The McKinley Architects [McK] and for a time working as a consultant with Taylor Gregory Architects [TGA]. If you would like more information on my expertise in any of these areas please feel free to contact me.
CHURCHES - Master Plans I have done more than a dozen conceptual master plans ranging from 250 seat facilities on 2 acres to 3,000 seats on 20 acres. Some of my favorites are:
- New Construction Most of the Master Planned churches proceed with at least one new building, and some, like Boulevard Park Presbyterian, have come back for up to 4 separate construction phases based on their original master plan. Some of the many churches I have served include:
- Remodels It is not unusual during the design process that we determine existing space can be remodeled to function more efficiently, gaining needed space while saving much of the expense of new construction. Other projects have simply needed to update an aging facility. Some of our remodeling projects include:
HOMES Home design has also been a major part of my practice over the years. Easily 75 remodel projects, over a dozen unique spec home designs for 3 Seattle area contractors, 7 designs for a developer in Japan, 30 custom homes under 5,000 sf, and a few larger custom homes such as:
MULTI-FAMILY / MIXED USE
COMMERICAL (SHELL & CORE)
COMMERCIAL (TENANT IMPROVEMENT) In addition to several business improvements around Woodinville in the 2,000 sf to 15,000 sf range, I have had leading roles in the following major TI projects:
HIGH TECH
RETAIL / STOREFRONT
EDUCATION
INDUSTRIAL
Queen Anne, Georgetown, Kent, Sherwood Oregon
MEDICAL / DENTAL
